Icebreaker Games for New Groups

Try light either-or questions, cooperative clues, picture guessing, or short name-and-interest prompts. Avoid games that demand personal stories, physical contact, or quick public judgement at the beginning. For new groups, Would You Rather and Party Bomb let people join in without having to share much about themselves.

Say: “We will try one short round. Passing is always fine, and there are no wrong answers.” Demonstrate one turn yourself, name the next player gently, and thank people for joining rather than praising only funny answers.

Five to fifteen minutes is enough. Stop after a successful round and move to the main activity before the energy dips.

Offer pointing, voting, drawing, or being the timer keeper. A genuine pass option makes participation safer for everyone.
